Restaurant Villa Le Bec

"Shanghai’s first garden boulevard"—Villa Le Bec is a restored 1924 villa that feels like a French country home. Warm light, a cosy fireplace, and an intimate atmosphere greet you on arrival. Behind it is chef Nicolas Le Bec, a former two-Michelin-star chef and Gault-Millau’s “Chef of the Year” at 29.

Opened in 2014, the villa houses several concepts, including Bistro 321, serving refined bistro classics alongside seasonal dishes with local Chinese ingredients. The menu features pâté en croûte, wood-fired côte de boeuf, and legendary mashed potatoes. An unspoken “hidden menu” changes with the chef’s inspiration.

The wine list boasts over 500 references, with rare vintages and d’Yquem by the glass. The rear garden—one reviewer called it “the best restaurant garden of many capital cities”—turns into a winter wonderland with snow machines and holiday lights each year.

In spring 2026, Le Bec opens a new outpost, Le Bec Bund, inside a century-old “little red building” on the historic Bund.
