Deng Huadong

Nanxingyuan

Chef Deng Huadong began his culinary training in 1977 at the Chengdu Catering Company. In 1982, he became a disciple of Master Chen Tingxin, a revered figure in Sichuan cuisine.

His career spanned China and Southeast Asia: he worked in Shenzhen, managed Tianfu Lou at Shanghai’s Jing’an Hilton, served as a training instructor in Chengdu, and was sent on a government assignment to Jakarta’s Sichuan Restaurant in 1992.

In 1994, Deng moved to Shanghai and co‑founded several restaurants before launching his own ventures, including Dengji Chuancai (2002) and Hejiang Town in Hong Kong (2008). In 2019, he founded Nanxingyuan, which has earned Black Pearl One Diamond (2023–2026) and Michelin‑recommended status (2022–2025).
