Gabriel (Gabo) Rodriguez

Born in Venezuela, Gabo Rodriguez trained at Le Cordon Bleu London and staged at El Bulli, Alinea, and Gordon Ramsay’s kitchens. He worked across the Dominican Republic, Chile, Mexico, Dubai, and the US before arriving in Shanghai in 2012. He opened kitchens including Goose Island Brewhouse and Paradis Chengdu Group, and co‑owned Anarkia Craft Kitchen.
His cooking is rooted in Chífané—not fusion for show, but the result of decades in China. “China is the heart, Mediterranean the soul, South America the blood,” he says. He cooks with wok, fire, olive oil, and instinct.
In 2024, Gabo was named Chef of the Year by That’s Shanghai and ranked among the Top 10 of The Attention Game.
