Restaurant Taian Table

Since its founding in 2016 by German chef Stefan Stiller, Taian Table has established itself as one of Shanghai's most acclaimed culinary destinations.
True to its name, Taian Table is built around a large central kitchen counter that seats up to 20 guests, creating an immersive, theatre-like dining experience. Diners are seated around the open kitchen, where chefs plate each dish just inches away, and are encouraged to interact with the culinary team throughout the evening. Two private booths and an upstairs Champagne bar offer alternative seating for those seeking a more intimate setting.
The restaurant serves a seasonal tasting menu in a modern European style, incorporating Asian influences and the best ingredients available in Shanghai. Guests may choose between 10 and 12 courses, with eight core dishes shared by all and the remaining selections drawn from two collections—"Classics" and "Specials"—allowing for personalisation. The menu is updated every six to eight weeks to reflect the changing seasons.
The kitchen team, led by Executive Chef Christiaan Stoop, combines European technique with precise, globally sourced ingredients, creating dishes that are both technically accomplished and deeply satisfying.
